Glastonbury To Pay Tribute To David Bowie By Screening 2000 Performance

David Bowie, the most famous headliner will be paid homage by Glastonbury Festival this year. 

Michael Eavis, the founder of the Festival has made the announcement that multi-day mid-year event will showcase various performances of Bowie’s career from 2000.

Michael Eavis mentioned Radio X that they will be doing a movie which is based on his set starting from the year 2000. The entire set will be shown on one of the screens once the stages are shut down.

David Bowie died on January 10 and the news came as a big shock to Eavis and he was deeply heartbroken. He has described Bowie as one of the biggest star of all-time and compared him to the likes of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.

Emily, who is the co-organizer of the show and daughter of Eavis described that Bowie’s 200 set is really amazing. It is one of the biggest gigs she has seen ever.

On the final night of Glastonbury Festival, the first confirmed headliner will be Coldplay and it will be played from June 22 – 26.

Four Piece a British act was the first act that made headline on four occasions at Glastonbury, after the headline appearances from Pyramid Stage in 2011, 2005, and 2002.

ELO of Jeff Lynn and PJ Harvey have also been confirmed for the line-up.

Glastonbury is considered to be the granddaddy of live music events that are played outdoors in the UK. The event was awarded at NME Award that was held this week in London.

David Bowie was given the posthumous award at the NME Awards, for best reissue.

David Bowie To be Paid Tribute By Bette Midler, Pixies, Debbie Harry And Mumford & Songs


2016 Grammy Awards recently wind up and the tribute paid by Lady Gaga to celebrate the career of David Bowie got a mixed response. 

The love for legendary singer, David Bowie, has not died down. A number of performances have been booked for the memorial concert to be held in New York for the late musician.

The long list includes the like of folk group Mumford & Sons, REM’s Michael Stripe and the Pixies, and Debbie Harry to name a few.

The event is scheduled to be held on 31st March at Carnegie Hall and the one on 1st April will be held at Radio City Music Hall.

At the first concert, a solo performance will be given by Debbie Harry, before she joins her band mates for the second day event at Radio City Music Hall.

For those who have plans to attend both the events will get to see The Pixies, Bette Midler, Mumford & Sons, along with The Donny McCaslin Group, who had worked for Blackstar, the final album from David Bowie.

The list of performers is not final yet as more entrants are expected to come. Some of the newcomers who have joined the list include the Roots, the Polyphonic Spree, Perry Farrell, the Roots, Laurie Anderson, and Cat Power.


Other than performing at New York, Glastonbury has also performed recently at the festival to pay tribute to David Bowie, although, it has not been revealed yet as to how it will manifest.

After fighting for nearly 18 months with lung cancer, the legendary singer David Bowie finally rest in peace on Monday.

Family members of the 69 year old singer surrounded him and in a statement made to the public by the publicist of the singer it was asked that people exhibit some respect the privacy of the family during their time of grief.
