The story of tumultuous and glamorous world of
Hollywood golden age cannot be complete without the mention of Hedy Lamarr.
The
story about this wonderful, and the so considered as the most beautiful lady in
Europe, is not an uncommon one.
Starting from the controversial sex scene that
was filmed in 1933 in Germany by this Austrian woman and then his disappearance
along with her husband when she decided to move to Paris and who later on
signed a contract with Louis B. Mayer the then head of MGM.
Hedy Lamarr was the perfect example of beauty
with the brains. She inspired many not just by her looks and acting talent, but
also by her work as an inventor.
Very few people now know that, the amazing
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology that we use so often today was almost invented
by this stunning beauty.
Back in the time of Hedy Lamarr, she filed to
get the patent for something called ‘frequency-hopping spread spectrum’.
The Birth Of An
Inventor
Lamarr was born in 1914 to Jewish parents, but
her mother converted to Catholicism later on. Lamarr went on to become an
actress and there was a time when she had to use her approach as an actress to
get herself freed from Nazi’s who were controlling Austria.
Producer Max Reinhart was the one who discovered
Hedy Lamarr first and he took her to Berlin where she learned acting in
theater. After getting trained she returned back to Vienna to start her career
in movies.
