The return of the critically
acclaimed movie from J J Abrams has also smashed the all-time online record for
total ticket sales, even though it has hit US cinemas only this morning at
12.01 am.
The total pre-sale in the US is
estimated to garner above $ 100 m and figures of opening day in UK has not been
added to it. Among the countries where Star Wars: The Force Awakens featured
early, include France where it accumulated $5.2 m. This is just short of Spectre
from James Bond all time record of single day.
In Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands, the movie from J J Abrams had the biggest opening day of all time. Box Office experts have predicted that the movie may post a global opening weekend record of around $650 m, and may break that of Jurassic World for the biggest opening weekend in the US.
In case for any reason, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is not able to break the opening weekend, as its release is colliding with the Christmas and New Year festival season, the movie is sure to become worldwide highest grosser of all time.
Avatar, which is the current world record holder had not much of an impressive weekend opening with just $77 m, but it went on to accumulate $2.78 b. If we can believe in social media, than Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already crossed Jurassic World.
